Spring Picnic at Edwin Warner Park

May 2 Sun 12:00 PM
Location
Edwin Warner Park

50 Vaughn Rd
Nashville, TN 37221

RAIN PLAN: It looks like the weather this weekend might be throwing us a curve ball for the picnic. If it's raining or if rain is imminent on Sunday afternoon, Lynn has graciously offered up her home as an alternative location for us to gather.

Lynn's address is 408 Carphilly Court in Brentwood. From I-65, take Old Hickory Blvd. east to Edmonson Pike and turn right (south) to the first stop light which will be Cloverland. Turn right and when you come to the next light at Sterling Oaks, turn right again and follow that to the T and Lynn's house is on the left with light colored brick, blue shutters and pink flowers.

Please be cool and don't park in front of other people's driveways and give Lynn's house all the respect you can. Help keep it picked up, don't track stuff in and leave with what you bring in.

If the weather holds, we're still on for Edwin Warner Park.

I am the Prince of Picnics Past. What can we learn from NHM picnics? Doug has bocce balls. Jonathan will kick your ass at ultimate frisbee while not spilling a drop of beverage. Amber is extremely competitive. Children will ford a swollen creek on a dare. Vegetarians don't like you to grill their Boca Burgers on a tainted Weber. iPod mix lists by Kelly doth rock.

Mark your calendars for our annual Spring picnic to meet new members and connect with old friends! We'll grill some grub and play friendly games of cornhole, soccer, football, softball, frisbee, bocce, kickball or whatever we have equipment for. There are lot of trails to hike or bike there as well.

Find us at Pavilion 5 at Edwin Warner Park.

Kids, dogs, bikes, strollers welcomed!

Bring your own meat or veggies to grill along with these items to share based on your last name:

A - F: Side dishes (chips, dips, veggies, fruit, potato salad) AND serving spoons
G - L: Desserts
M - R: Bottled or canned drinks and ice
S - Z: Disposable plates, napkins, forks, garbage bags

Please let us know if you can bring a grill and charcoal.

Also, please bring any sports equipment you have to share (soccer ball, softball equipment, Frisbee, football, corn hole, etc.).

Carpool with a friend to save space at the park. Another suggestion is to meet at the Harris Teeter in Belle Meade and carpool from there. We don't have an official carpool set up so arrange this with your hiking buddies on your own or post a note in your RSVP.

Here is the URL for the TDOT Smartmap, which is supposed to show traffic flow, accidents, construction, etc.:
    http://ww2.tdot.state.tn.us/tsw/smartmap.htm?city=Nashvil...

It does not look good. All major roads going from my home to Warner Parks are blocked.

Harriett: We don't have any formal plans to hike yet, but everyone is free to hike the trails at Edwin Warner before, during, and after the picnic!
