We will be hiking the Couchville Lake Trail this Sunday. It's a 2-mile paved loop, serene and beautiful, with great views of the lake and good chances to see deer, turkey, and other wildlife. Anyone wanting a longer hike can go around the trail twice.

There are restrooms, vending machines, picnic tables with grills, and volleyball nets and horseshoes, so if anyone wants to bring snacks (or even have a picnic) or put together a volleyball game after the hike, that's also something we can do.

This will NOT be a "nature" hike with frequent stops to gaze at all the wonders, but Ranger Tyler has offered to walk with us, so he will be available to answer questions. He is a treasure trove of information about anything from birds to butterflies, trees to turkeys, to you name it about nature and Long Hunter.

Directions: Enter the park from Hobson Road, go past the park office about 1/4 mile. Turn left at sign reading "Area 2 - Couchville Lake." This takes you to the parking lot. Meet at the trail head. Any questions, here's a link to the Long Hunter website (http://www.tennessee...., or you can email Donna at [masked].

Hike is still on. Rain should stop and even if it doesn't most of it doesn't reach the ground because of all the trees.

Is anyone interested in playing volleyball after the hike? Horse shoes? If so we need to bring the equipment.
